We take a holistic approach to IT management using Earned Value Management (EVM) supported by active risk management, thus ensuring the predictability of a timely and quality delivery of IT systems and software applications.
Over the years, federal government agencies have realized the importance of Enterprise Architecture (EA) in aligning technology assets and capital investments with their mission, vision and business strategy. EA development and execution is proven to reduce cost, increase agility in reactions to legislations or threats to National Security and improve services to US taxpayers. Business Process Management (BPM) in combination with Enterprise Architecture works very well in addressing organizational inefficiencies in the alignment between business and IT. We have extensive experience in developing Enterprise Architecture, Segment Architecture and Solution Architecture for Defense and Civilian agencies, developing IT strategy and capital investment planning for IT products and services leveraging SOA, green technologies, virtualization and cloud computing. Cloud computing is rapidly evolving and is a part of our EA transition and implementation strategy at federal agencies. Our experience with federal agencies includes working with the Internal Revenue Service where the current project involves implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as required by legislation, Department of Defense and Department of Justice utilizing TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF and Zachman.
Our Systems Engineering practice covers the entire SE lifecycle from need assessment, architecture inception, development, system design and engineering, integration, testing, operations to system retirement. We ensure that customer needs are satisfied by applying sound systems engineering processes utilizing modeling (MBSE), prototyping, applying both qualitative and quantitative analysis, leveraging INCOSE, NASA and MITRE SE best practices.
We ensure client requirements are satisfied by applying sound systems engineering processes to manage problems, both technical and non-technical, and their solution complexities over the entire life cycle i.e., from inception, planning, engineering implementation, O&M to its eventual retirement. It is important to evaluate whether the implemented system provides its intended value over time, which may take years. Challenges that may arise during this process include changes in business needs and requirements, funding, and engineering and design changes. Selecting an appropriate system engineering framework for a given problem is a key to a successful implementation which covers feasibility, solution definition, requirements engineering, design and modeling, development, integration, testing, change management, deployment, training, maintenance and support.
Enterprise Content Management
Corporate information is often inaccessible because it is usually saved on individual desktops, network drives, CDs/DVDs and flash drives. This ultimately limits an organization’s ability to best utilize this collateral effectively as it is often out of reach. To centralize information sharing across an organization, the solution is to implement a content management system such as EMC Documentum® or Microsoft SharePoint®. Using ECM technologies, organizations can collect, consolidate, and migrate scattered information into one consolidated system which is capable of providing actionable intelligence. We have developed and managed large content repositories including content migration (ETL) at organizations like Lexis-Nexis and The Environmental Protection Agency.
Business Process Management
Every business comprises of three main resources: human capital, business processes and applications. Business Process Management involves the improvement of one of these main factors: core end-to-end business processes by means of Lean Six Sigma, a statistics-based and proven business process improvement methodology to incrementally improve or completely re-engineer existing business processes. Once the processes are improved, they can be automated using commercially available BPM Suites such as Appian, BizFlow, Lombardi and many others. We have reconstructed and automated business processes at Johnson & Johnson, USPTO and the Department of Defense.
IT infrastructure is the foundation of an IT system, consists of building blocks such as computers, servers, network, firewall, database, filesystem, service bus, wireless network, etc., and how they are connected together to make the system whole on which the software application. Infrastructure engineering deals with competing technologies from vendors and COTS products, compatibility and lifecycle issues, performance and stability of individual components since a system can only be as robust as its weakest component.
